Making A New Habit

So this morning, I made time for a morning yoga class that wasn’t happening on a weekend / public holiday. First time ever since I started yoga in Oct 2016! And the 1st day of a new month was a perfect way to get this going!

Many reasons went into this decision. First, wanted to do class with preferred teacher (since she wasn’t doing her usual Thurs evening slot that I originally signed up for). Also wanted to do a class (since I didn’t manage to do any class this week) before workshop tommorrow.

More importantly, having been in a confused/frustrated/head-less chicken state of mind for majority of October, I really really needed some space for myself and clear my head (read: achieve clarity) and yoga is great for the awareness on and off the mat.

Of course there is also home practice but I haven’t been great/consistent with my self-practice for a while now (another bad habit to correct/work on).

All these on top of something challenging I had to tackle (Side Note: Will need to be very patient and yet firm to see this issue through as there is still some resistance that I need to work through). As for the rant that I had on Wednesday that I wrote here – I’m glad to say the issue that triggered the entry has been resolved after lunch today. So one positive for me!

I think the magic of morning workouts is that apart from that yoga magic to start off your day, you have the feeling that you still have a lot of time left to really get stuff done for the rest of the day. Even on weekends, although I can sleep in and do a afternoon class, majority of the time, I always opt to do Saturday morning class (0915 Hrs class) to kickstart my weekend on the ‘right’ note. I like the feeling that I still have a lot of time to focus on my self-care/work stuff/whatever I want to do for the rest of the weekend. This to a certain extent, has helped me to work in adjusting my bio-clock and work towards being less tardy.

And so, this was how I felt today (even though I didn’t sleep well the night before, slept less than 6 hrs in total). Didn’t feel like a dead fish despite the poor sleep. Definitely beats waking up and getting frustrated with noise, dily-dalying at home and dreading my work to-do list …… and have half the day gone by which leaves me only afternoon time (less than 6 hours if you take away lunchtime, that’s how unproductive I am these days) to get proper work done.

Its about time morning workouts become a weekday habit as well 🙂

P/S: There was actually a Work Rant Part 2 as there was someone I wanna vent about but some yoga magic is keeping me in check, so no complaining/bitching 🙂
