Ending 2016 ……

Its only now – with 1 more day to go before 2016 comes to an official close that I finally have the time to wipe some dust off this blog as I’m working from home today.

December has been a busy and relatively productive month. I hesitated to say ‘productive’ or ‘very productive’ as I felt I could have managed my focus and energy levels much better …… before I can confidently say I’ve been productive. More important is the self-awareness to realize that …… and this will be something I have to keep working on in year 2017.

Sometimes plans, how well laid-out it can be, will not always go swimmingly / within our expectation.

One thing I have set out to do is to do more yoga over the festive season (christmas eve right till the new year) – as versus to just 1 class per week. My original plan today was to take the day off, go for lunchtime Stretch @ Yoga Lab …… followed by a relaxing lunch and some shopping in town. However a last minute quotation request from client came in last night. And so in the end, I sacrificed my home practice last night and sleep (eyes were already closing at 11+) to send out the quotation requests so that I could get some indicative responses by noon (as some insurers may be on half-day).

In the end, no indicative quote was forthcoming (as this is a specialized risk). Thankfully, I managed to seek client’s understanding that the time frame is too rushed, and we can only see some outcome in the new year.

And so I’ll do home practice today instead and go for a Stretch Class tomorrow morning. Interestingly, my original intention/workout plan for this week is to do a Stretch Class either on Friday or Saturday after attending a Hot Yoga 101 Class earlier on Tuesday evening. Flip-flopped a bit last night by putting myself on the wait-list for Yoga 101 at 1745 Hrs later, only to eventually cancel it (after getting a mat) and reverting back to my original plan of doing Stretch Class.

Which brings me to another point – setting and managing expectations.

When dealing with clients, clients will always want their needs to be attended first and on asap basis (even though it may neither be urgent nor important). Looking back now, although I wasn’t able to get an indicative quote today (which was the ideal scenario I had in my mind) – most important thing is that I got my client’s understanding that it may be difficult to firm things right now since its festive season. And he/she was pretty cool with it. So after some rough hiccups in the business relationship along the way, it is a sign of progress that I’m able to handle fickle natures a lot better now – by managing expectations accordingly.

And that brings me to the next point(s) – patience and intention.

Ideally, if the quote could come in today, I will be able to close off my work and have the afternoon off. Or from another perspective, simply tell the client that its not possible and let’s wait till the new year – and have the entire day off to do what I want to do. It was good that I kept going at it – despite the less than positive outcome for now …… and eventually we should be able to come to a more reasonable timeline to firm up something soon once everyone is back in normal working mode (and also when client manages to firm their equipment leasing details on their end too).

When this deal (and the deals/cases that I have been working on pre and post Christmas) eventually comes through – the rewards/fruits of labour will be that much sweeter and more precious. And so a little waiting here for now after having put in my best efforts!

And having the above clarity meant that I was able to go back to my original intention of closing year 2016 with a yoga class …… after starting my Christmas holidays with Hatha Yoga Class on Christmas Eve (where I completely blocked out work) and to end 2016 with another yoga class (with no distractions). As I have learnt in mediation and from yoga – setting your intention is important, as that will serve as our original purpose to why we set out to do that particular activity.

What was meant to be a random musings entry turned out to be a longer reflection piece (unplanned). It definitely feels good to be able to crystallize my thoughts and blog/write once again.

WordPress Report: 2015 in review

Very Belated Update. Was hunting high and low for the link until I finally found it in my email.

Some things never change. My food review entries from way back year 2013 for Kobe Steakland and Katsukura remain the most visited entries ……

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 26,000 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 10 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Checking In

Feeling rather down, dis-oriented, dis-organized (despite good attempts to follow a regular schedule of sorts as a target goal to work on for Q2). After getting through low mood earlier last week (time of the month) and thinking that things are picking back up once again once the PMS Phase has ended ….. Only ended up starting off the week with a ear achne / infection (definitely aggravated by a  narcissism / irritant) making me feel even more in the dumps 😦

Original intention was to get this entry up over the weekend, but didn’t manage to do so. Anyway what is most important is to get an entry in to get the blogging engine fired back up again.

Most importantly, my ear achne is finally going away after resting for the whole of yesterday 🙂

WordPress Report: 2014 in review

First entry to start off year 2015 will be a recap of my year 2014 on the blogging front.

Noted that the most popular posts were my food reviews (from my 2013 Japan Trip). Had enjoyed writing about my food and travel adventures very much as well. Did note that food and travel are very popular topics on social media that generate lots of hits (be it blogging, instagram, pinterest etc.) so this may also set the tone and direction for my blog going forward.

WordPress Report: 2013 in review

First time ever generating a summary for my own blog. Thought it was a nice way to end off year 2013.

Wasn’t able to do it yesterday as I had to make a request in the forums to get the report emailed to me. Here It Goes!

Early Start

Woke up early (9am) for the 2nd day in a row 😛 …..

Had a product refresher/Q&A at head office yesterday …. and ‘supposed’ to head to Singpost Building @ Paya Lebar for PD Day (consolidated training) this morning. Snoozed and snoozed my alarm as usual …. woke up and decided that its too much hassle to pack, get changed within 1/2 hour and hence no more PD Day for me!

But still, good to wake up early and get going. Am happy that I blasted out a new term promotion last night/this morning before sleeping, hence another tick off my mailing list. Will have some time to make a few calls and go through afternoon’s meeting materials again (Better preparation), blog …… and enjoy a nice lunch in town, heh!

So now checking facebook, doing some reading/surfing (hardwarezone forums, checking out microsoft office versions) and getting a blog entry up. Finally managed to get together an entry for April, given that end of April is approaching ….. Time passes real fast when you least want it to be so …….

Crazy me has been bringing back laptop almost everyday for the past 2 weeks despite having an iPad now – so that am able to get a bit more work done before bedtime ….. Also brought it back last night, as I need it for review appointment later ……

Have been out of Kpop for quite a while now and listening to Cantopop mainly these days (more on that in my next blog entry – which I will make sure I finish before April closes) …… Nevertheless thought to start off my morning with something energetic – Big Bang’s Gara Gara Go! Still like their older material a lot more 😛

Wow! Its almost 12 (1145am to be exact) …. Better get going!

Last Day of 2012!

Looking at my super pathetic blog count for the month of December, and with less than 2 hours to go to the final end of year 2012 …. decided to pop in my last blog entry for year 2012!

Quiet countdown into year 2013 …… think it was pretty much the same last year too. Originally the gang had intentions to organise something for the new year (a cosy countdown like what we had in 2009) but plans fizzled out pretty fast as some of the group had other plans (then why bother to suggest & be enthusiastic about it) …… Well well …… Had always preferred a more relaxed and quiet countdown rather than heading to town to squeeze & watch fireworks (hate navigating through the crowds) so this is fine with me as well 😛

Taking a quick look back on 2012 as the KBS Drama Awards is playing on KBS World (thank you Starhub for the free channels preview!) …… despite not making any new year resolutions for year 2012 (surprise!) due to getting distracted by certain stuff which quickly on reflection was a bad judgement and poor time management on my part *ahem* …. am happy to say have acheived about 70% (rough estimate) on what I set out to do in my mind. The big major goals are always there at the back of my head whether written down or not, but I guess one small change I made is to make weekly/monthly/quarterly goals instead – which serve as activities needed to push foward the major goals ……

Raised my production despite not doing enough calls (have really slackened in this aspect, can imagine how much more I can do if I just consistently worked on this) …… Got a couple of quality referrals …… Got to see Lee Hom in concert (another major must-see concert off my list) ……Stuck to my plan and finished 3 half-marathons without any serious injury (timing is another matter though – will work on this aspect in 2013) ……

On the holiday front, I finally got to go to Japan! This is after talking about it since year 2010. Really glad that fate made it happen. So this is another ‘old’ resolution ticked off the list! Happy!

Didn’t get to stay in more constant touch with some of my friends and clients in my life as much as I would have preferred. Nevermind, another item to work on for year 2013. On the family front, am happy to note that relationships are more harmonious as we learn to be more patient with each other, and give and take better.

Right now, I just need to get my bio-clock back to ‘Japan mode’ again and get myself back into ‘chiong’ mode (after a longer than planned post christmas break). Only 5 months left into the 2nd half of our banding/production year! And also get down to writing my new year resolutions proper for year 2013!
